Gambeson (armour type)
A gambeson is a padded armour made of layers of dense wool. It is often used as a base combined with other armour like chainmail armour and plate armour. It is also possible to use it on its own in a pinch, as a gambeson is basically the cheapest armour and most easily attainable. More expensive and noble padded jackets exist and provide a good compromise between a charismatic outfit and protection, though they are also fairly heavy compared to civilian clothing.
In general, gambesons are extremely weak against stabbing attacks and only mildly protective against cutting attacks. However, they have good protection against blunt attacks compared to the other damage types, and many dark gambesons have very low noise, conspicuousness, and visibility. Nevertheless, any persistent attacker (be it Henry himself or an NPC) will very quickly overwhelm the defenses of someone wearing only a gambeson, as their low durabilty means they cannot take much punishment without other armor layers to withstand the brunt of incoming attacks.
Padded armour consist of a coif, a body garment and padded chausses.
