- Like the other horses, Kanthaka is listed as an Easter egg.
- Kanthaka appears in Buddhist text as the horse of Prince Siddhartha, who later became the Buddha. Legend says that Kanthaka died of a broken heart following his prince's departure, and that it was later reborn as a brahmin and achieved spiritual enlightenment.
- Kanthaka's loyalty is referenced in-game with its maximum courage value. Additionally, its unusually low capacity may reference its owner's asceticism.
