Detailed walkthrough
After the events of Fortuna and their rejection at Trosky, Henry and Hans stop at the Troskowitz tavern to eat and drink. While there, they begin devising a plan to reach Von Bergow. During their discussion, Katherine, the woman from the pond, passes by. Hans urges Henry to speak with her in hopes that she can vouch for their identity. However, the initial attempt proves unsuccessful, as Katherine immediately comments on Henry’s foul odor. The innkeeper intervenes, instructing him to wash up before continuing the conversation.
After using the nearby water trough to clean himself, Henry must wait for Katherine to finish her conversation before approaching her again. However, this second attempt also does not go to plan as Katherine pretends to not know who Henry is. The player may choose any dialogue option, but none will work, except for utilizing Henry’s speech skill. If the player opts for this approach and fails the speech check, Katherine will scold Henry, resulting in a decrease in reputation with her. However, if the check is successful, she will quietly acknowledge him but insist that he lower his voice and refrain from mentioning their previous encounter.
The innkeeper
Nevertheless, after receiving the wine from the innkeeper, Katherine informs Henry that the only opportunity to speak with Lord von Bergow will be at young Lord Semine's upcoming wedding. Innkeeper Betty will approach Henry soon after, assigning them tasks as a way to repay their debt. Accepting the work without hesitation provides an opportunity to inquire about the upcoming wedding. Choosing the affirming dialogue options (Always ready!, Alright, we’ll do it.) will help the player character gain reputation with Betty. The player can also ask about the wedding, and Betty will mention that Svatya Thrush, the bailiff’s son, is at the inn and knows more about it.
Finding a way into the wedding
At the table behind Hans, the player may talk with Svatya Thrush. He explains that he cannot extend an invitation to the wedding and suggests that the player find a job as a 'lackey' instead. Before leaving, Svatya proposes a game of dice. As the wager, he promises to secure a way for the player to attend the wedding if they win; regardless of the result, he will say the same thing as before.
To the left of Svatya's table are Miller Kreyzl and Blacksmith Radovan. Sharing the truth about the player's situation can improve reputation. If asked about work, both will offer jobs, allowing the player to choose either option and change their mind later if desired.
Carrying the flour bags; inn fight
To settle Henry's tab with Innkeeper Betty, the player must transport five flour bags from a wagon behind the inn into the cellar, placing them on a set of wooden planks. Before completing the task, an altercation occurs between Hans and Svatya, which escalates into a brawl. After the brawl is broken up, both are confined to the pillory, where Hans turns hostile toward the player. Upon their release, Hans parts ways with Henry, leaving him to figure out how to attend the wedding. This marks the beginning of the next quest, Wedding Crashers.
