Miskowitz is a village in Kuttenberg region.
Historical context
Miskowitz is a historic village with a fort, founded in the 12th century.
The village and its fort were first officially mentioned in 1309, when the owners were the nobles Nechval and Pešek of Miskovice. In 1358, part of Miskowitz was owned by the Skalitz Monastery near Kouschim until 1420, while the other part, including the fort, belonged to the Písek family, with Vánek of Písek recorded in 1419.
Archaeological evidence suggests the village was once surrounded by wooden walls, with a main fort that disappeared by 1825.
