The Axe from the Lake is a task in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

Detailed walkthrough
To unlock this task, speak to the hired hand Zdenyek the Mouth at the inn in Tachov. Speak with Zdenyek the Mouth, and the player character can hear about his stories. Zdenyek will ask for either a drink or 25 Groschen. While other dialogue options are available, giving or buying him a drink will always succeed. The player can choose any of the genres, but the story he tells will remain the same.
Zdenyek's story tells the tale two brothers, one of whom obtained a silver axe from a water goblin while the other perished due to his greed. He explains that Matthias buried Kuba, along with the axe, near Rocktower Pond. The burial site is located west of Zhelejov, within a marked search area on the map. Follow the path along the pond, and upon reaching the task marker at the center of the zone, take the right path into the forest. Ascend the hill to find a nest, and nearby will be a grave that can be excavated.
Unfortunately, the axe will be broken and weathered after years of weathering under the soil. The player can take the axe to Blacksmith Radovan's forge at Tachov to repair the axe using a fastening material. After repairing the axe, return to Zdenyek to inform him. This completes the task, and the Adorned Axe becomes the player's possession.
