Wysoka
The village of Wysoka (Czech: Vysoká) is a location in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
Background
Wysoka is a village in Kuttenberg region, of Suchdol domain.
Historical context
Wysoka is a historic village founded in the 13th century. On April 25, 1142, the Battle of Wysoka took place on the village hill, between the royal troops of Bohemian Prince Vladislaus II and the Moravian armies, along with rebel Czech nobles loyal to Conrad II of Znojmo.
The village was first mentioned in 1278 in the indulgence charter of Bishop Tobiáš of Bechyně and officially in 1303, when it belonged to Volimír of Tuchotic. Over the years, several burghers of Kuttenberg succeeded one another as owners, including Petrus Paniess in 1371. On August 28, 1382, Peter of Písek became the patron of the church in Wysoka and was confirmed as the owner of the village within the Suchdol domain in 1386.
During the Bohemian Civil War in December 1402, the region around Wysoka was affected by the looting of the royal army from Prague under the command of Markvart von Aulitz. In 1403, Peter of Písek transferred his Wysoka property to Wenceslas Vorsucher, a burgher from Kuttenberg. It is unclear if this transfer was a punishment from the royal court for resisting Sigismund. By 1407, Peter reclaimed the property, later giving it to his son Jíra of Písek in 1409. Between 1415 and 1417, Wysoka was owned by Nicholas and Hanush of Písek.
