The cuman brigandine is an armour item in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and is classed as body plate and as lamellar armour.

Description

Lamellar armour is composed of small rectangular plates in hard leather laced together in rows with wire. This was an early form of armour that remained in use in the Orient. It is light and suitable for mounted fighters; it protects against arrows and slashing swords.

How to Obtain

  • Can only be looted from Cumans, or found in their encampments.

Notes

  • Historical Accuracy: This armor seems very loosely based on Eastern brigandine designs, commonly referred to as khatangu degel (Mongolian, roughly "vest as strong as steel".) Developed in and popularized by the Mongol Empire c. 13th century, these brigandines gradually phased out lamellar in Central and East Asia as they offered similar benefits in mobility and ease of manufacture/repair but with greater protection. This also made them quite popular in South Asia and parts of the Islamic World and Eastern Europe. Unlike Western brigandines (or the poor interpretation in-game), khatangu degel often took the form of a robe rather than a cuirass, though both types often featured brigandine pauldrons.
