Our goal is to create a comprehensive, accurate, and engaging resource for all fans of the game. Therefore, this manual of style provides guidelines to ensure consistency and clarity in all articles on the Kingdom Come: Deliverance Wiki. Adhering to these standards helps maintain a professional and cohesive appearance throughout the wiki.

General guidelines

The policies below are based upon Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, the Terraria Wiki's rules, and the Palia Wiki's content guidelines.
  • Read the page thoroughly before editing and lay out everything you want changed.
  • Keep the scope of the respective article that is being edited in mind. Do not add information that has little or nothing to do with its actual topic. Often, there are other pages which already include this information which do not need to be included within the article.
  • Proofread the edit before saving it to make sure it fits with the rest of the article's style. Neglecting spelling or grammar, repeating information, writing vaguely, or not following any other of the style guide's guidelines may result in the edit being modified or undone by other editors. If you need assistance with your edit, state it in your edit summary and contact other wiki editors.
  • Changes to a page should be briefly explained within the edit summary. This helps other editors understand the intentions and changes, avoids conflict over controversial edits, and facilitates searching for a certain change in the page history.

Language

  • This wiki uses U.S. English and articles should follow as such.
  • Use standard, formal English and proper grammar and spelling. Do not use contracted forms (such as don't, there's – use do not, there is instead), colloquialisms, or slang. This to keep in line with the encyclopedic tone the wiki should have.
  • Ensure a neutral, encyclopedic tone in writing.
    • Avoid using first or second person perspectives. Do not address the reader directly, such as with "You can use weapons for fighting enemies." Instead, use "the player" or passive voice (e.g., "Weapons can be used for fighting enemies"), but do not overuse passive constructions. Phrases like "It is recommended to ..." should be avoided because they are vague. A clearer alternative is "Players should ...," though reasons should be provided. Furthermore, avoid generalizations like "Most players ...," as players have diverse play styles.
    • Adhere to facts – do not include opinions or personal bias. Statements like "This is the best weapon" or "This quest is difficult" should not appear unless they are obviously justifiable by game considerations such as in-game statistics.

Capitalization

  • All names should follow the capitalization as it is in-game (e.g. St. George's sword.
  • Article titles and section headings should be in sentence case, as long as it does not interfere with the rules above.
  • Do not capitalize the word the in mid-sentence. Exceptions are given to proper names, which may or may not be capitalized.

Formatting guidelines

  • The first instance of an entity name on a page should always be linked. This does not apply to the page title, which should be in proper bold instead. The entity name should be linked once in each section that it is mentioned in. Do not add more than one link per section to prevent the page from looking too over-linked and busy.
  • The first instance of the page title should always be bold. This should usually be in the first sentence of the article. No other instance of the page title should be bold. Bold print should be avoided for emphasis on other words; use italics instead (see below).
  • Italic print is to be used in the following cases:
  • Underlining, spacing within words, different colors within words, all caps, and small caps styling should be avoided at all times.
  • Times of day are to be formatted as in-game. Kingdom Come: Deliverance follows the 24-hour clock hh:mm format, and as such times of day should be formatted accordingly.
  • Straight quotation marks and apostrophes (" and ') should be used instead of curly ones ( and ).

Coding guidelines

  • The syntax provided by MediaWiki is preferred over HTML, e.g. '''bold''' instead of <b>bold</b>. In some cases, HTML syntax may be more beneficial for code readability or even necessary to avoid errors, such as in temlates.
  • Section titles, lists, and indentations should include spaces for readability, i.e.:
    • == Section == instead of ==Section==
    • * bullet point and # enumerated item instead of *bullet point and #enumerated item
    • : indented text instead of :indented text
Section titles should be immediately followed by the section text or the following subsection title, without an empty line in between.
Section titles should always be preceded by an empty line, unless this interferes with the rule above or creates an empty paragraph.

Article format and sections

Specific article types require different sections and layouts. Listed below are guides on how to format a specific type of article.
