Deep Silver is an Austrian video game publisher and a division of PLAION GmbH.

Background

Deep Silver was announced in November 2002. The studio gained prominence with the release of Dead Island in 2011, which topped sales charts. In 2013, Deep Silver acquired Volition, the developer of the Saints Row series, and secured the rights to the Metro series from the bankruptcy proceedings of THQ.

On 29 September 2016, it was announced that Warhorse Studios had signed a deal with Koch Media's game publishing division Deep Silver to publish the console versions as well as the retail PC version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance.[1]

According to a slide from an internal presentation, PLAION plans to discontinue the use of three of its current publishing labels, including Deep Silver, and will instead publish all associated titles under the PLAION brand.[2] This is further proven by the fact that Kingdom Come: Deliverance II will be published under the PLAION brand,[3] despite Deep Silver being listed as the publisher on Steam.[4]
