Detailed walkthrough
After Hans Capon’s escort settles near Trosky, the player is instructed to speak with Sir Hans Capon to discuss the next steps. Near the campfire, Mutt is seen bothering Oats, the escort’s cook. Oats requests that the player intervene and bring Mutt to heel to stop the disturbance. The player will be forced comply with his request, as Hans will also tell the player to calm Mutt down when they approach him.
Upon bringing Mutt to heel, Henry will observe that Mutt is hungry. The player character will then need to find food for him. Upon speaking to Oats, Oats offers to trade a sausage in exchange for his ring, which was lost to Tankard in a dice game. To obtain the ring, the player must engage Tankard in a game of Dice, who is nearby talking to Konrad. If Henry wins, the player acquires Oats’ ring and, in turn, the sausage needed to feed Mutt.
Away from the table, Sir Hans Capon can be found standing near a wooden fence. If the player previously handled the encounter with Captain Thomas courteously, Hans will acknowledge their efforts. He then invites Henry to a training session inside the fenced area.
To proceed, the player must equip a wooden longsword, coif, and helmet before speaking with Hans again. Hans offers a wager of 100 Groschen for a duel, which the player can accept, negotiate for a higher amount, or decline. The training consists of a series of exercises, including attacking, blocking, executing perfect blocks, and performing ripostes. The tutorial concludes with a training duel, after which a winner is declared.
Following the session, Hans remarks that he has grown famished from the training, prompting the player’s next objective: proceeding to the campfire for a meal.
Campfire
Upon arriving at the campfire, Henry talks with Hans, Konrad, Nicholas, Oats, and Tankard. During this exchange, the player has the opportunity to revisit key events from the previous game and even shape aspects of Henry’s past, such as defining his relationship with Theresa.
Additionally, the player is presented with three choices that help determine certain character preferences. These selections influence Henry’s abilities, granting additional points to specific skills based on the player’s decisions. Each selection grants additional points to a specific skill.
When discussing the incident with Tankard:
- "I had to drag you out." (Strength)
- "I dragged you apart." (Agility)
- "You could have carried on with us till morning." (Vitality)
- "I cleared things up with the husband." (Speech)
When asked about his whereabouts at night:
- "Mutt caught a scent." (Houndmaster)
- "I was with you the whole time." (Stealth)
- "I was looking for some shelter." (Survival)
- "I needed a bit of peace and quiet." (Scholarship)
When discussing combat preferences:
- "The sword is a wonderful weapon." (Sword)
- "I prefer maces." (Heavy Weapons)
- "I can manage even without a weapon." (Unarmed)
- "I prefer shooting." (Marksmanship)
Swim and bandit ambush
After having a meal, Sir Hans Capon expresses his desire to go for a swim and invites Henry to join him. After wading into the water, Hans hears the voices of women nearby and begins moving toward them. The player must follow him while crouching through the reeds to avoid detection
If the player is detected, the woman will flee toward her companions. Regardless of whether the player remains unnoticed, the sound of clashing swords soon becomes audible, initiating a cutscene. The camp is ambushed by mercenaries, resulting in the massacre of Hans and Henry's armed escort. The assailants also turn their attention to the women, prompting Henry to intervene in an attempt to protect one of them.
However, this act of bravery turns on them quickly as Hans and Henry are forced to flee across the pond as the mercenaries pursue them. During the escape, Henry is struck by an arrow.
Escaping the bandits
Upon reaching the opposite end of the pond, Henry and Hans discover that the bandits have already arrived and are searching for them. To evade capture, they need to stealthily navigate through the woods, moving carefully between hiding spots. As they continue forward, the player must remain cautious of enemy patrols, avoiding detection by staying crouched along the edges of the path while the bandits primarily stick to the dirt trail, illuminated by their torches. Following Hans' lead, they make their way toward the rocky cliffs, where he briefly pauses to catch his breath.
Henry must take the path to the right and explore the area until he identifies an exit through the fissures on the left. Upon returning to inform Hans, he discovers that Hans is no longer there. Instead, two bandits begin searching the vicinity. One of them moves in Henry’s direction, requiring the player to retreat and take cover along the adjacent path to the right.
As the bandit passes, Henry must remain crouched and follow him carefully through the rocky terrain. Upon reaching a boulder on the right, the player should hide until the bandit turns back, allowing for a safe passage forward. Continuing along the route to the left, Henry eventually reunites with Hans. He tells Henry to slide down into the water, but he is attacked by a bandit before he can do so. No matter how the battle goes, both the player and the bandit will eventually fall from the cliffs.
The sequence culminates in a near-death experience, during which Henry enters a dream sequence with his deceased father, Martin. Shortly thereafter, Hans awakens Henry, and the two set off into the wilderness, initiating the next quest, Fortuna.
