Guardian Manfred was the loyal retainer of Karl, a young nobleman on the verge of taking vows at the Sasau Monastery.

Biography
During Poverty, Chastity and Obedience, Henry seeks to enter the Sasau Monastery, but it is difficult to gain access. He seeks out Karl, who is about to take vows as a novice, in the hope that he can switch places. He finds him, along with Manfred, at the Wagoner's Inn. Manfred has forbidden Karl from visiting the brothel, but he nobleman is still permitted to drink away his last few days of freedom.
Even though Manfred follows Karl everywhere, Henry is able to convince him to give them a few minutes alone, during which he will learn why Karl is being sent to the monastery. Karl is desperate to escape his fate, but Manfred is holding all the money and equipment. Henry can attempt to reason with Manfred, but the guardian is determined to see Karl safely behind the Monastery walls, where he wont be tempted by Lord's daughters.
Henry will need to take the writ from Manfred in order to gain access to the Monastery under Karl's name. He may also take Manfred's purse, and give it to Karl in order to finance his escape.
