Mortar

The Mortar is the grey stone bowl to the right of the Alchemy Bench's main surface. It is also referred to as the "Mortar and Pestle", with the Pestle being the small stone handheld grinder. It is used to turn raw ingredients into their ground counterpart for recipes. Contents of the Mortar can be placed in the Dish to be set aside or added to other ingredients, or added directly to the Cauldron. If the recipe calls for multiple of the same herb to be ground, or calls for different herbs to be ground back-to-back, all of these can be placed into the Mortar and ground at once, unless there is a step between the two herbs that are to be ground.
