Damsel in Distress is a side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. During All that Glisters, Henry will learn that a bathmaid named Esther was kidnapped by counterfeiters, in order to blackmail her sweetheart, Florian.

Synopsis

Every little boy dreams of becoming a knight in shining armour and rescuing a princess from a tower. I never thought that dream would come true for me... well, sort of. I'm not a knight, it's not a princess I have to rescue, but a bathhouse wench, and she's not locked away in a tower but on top of a hill.

Objectives

• Find the place where Esther is being held.
  • Save Esther.
    • Lead Esther to away (sic) from the kidnapper's camp
    • Talk to Esther
      • Talk with Florian about Esther.

Walkthrough

Esther is being held at a camp south-west of Rovna. You have several options - first, pick the lock on the building and go inside without being seen. Secondly, just get your weapon and charge in, guns blazing. It doesn't seem like poisoning works with these bandits.

(optional) If you cause one of Esther's captors to surrender, you can also question them to learn about a second, easier entrance into the counterfeiter's workshop for All that Glisters main quest.

Henry rescues Esther

Speak to Esther, and then the two of you can sneak out of the camp. Go slowly, because if you get too far ahead, she'll stop.

After you have secured Esther, speak with her. She will accuse Florian of being in league with the villains, and Henry can either defend the apprentice or throw him under the bus. After this, tell Esther to return home by herself, or else escort her. Once you are back in Sasau, you can extort 375 from Florian.

If Esther dies, you will fail the quest, and Florian will be devastated, but still assist you in completing All that Glisters.

Notes

• If you kill the bandits, but pick the lock instead of looting the key, you will launch Lost and Found, requiring you to go to Rattay in order to collect it.
• If you find and capture Jezhek before doing finding Esther in Damsel in Distress, a bug will occur where she will no longer be inside the cabin. Instead the cabin door will be open with nobody inside even if the quest marker still points to that location.
