The Hounskull is an armour item in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and is categorized as a helmet.

Description

A type of bascinet with extended visor which allows combatant to breathe better and gave it its significant name as it resembles the skull of a hound.

How to Obtain

  • Worn by a bandit in Skalitz, after the attack.
  • Worn by a guard at the Merhojed soldier's camp.
  • Can be found on heavily armoured bandits, guards and soldiers.
  • Can be looted from the bandit leader in the camp between Skalitz and Sasau.

Notes

  • This is one of the few helmets that cannot be purchased.
  • Historical Accuracy: In addition to the comments on the common bascinet page, this item in-game has some issues with interpretation. The visor uses the dual-side pivot mounting method instead of the top mounted klappvisor, which renders the latter's hinge redundant. Historically either method would have been feasible as hounskull refers to the type of extended visor, whereas klappvisor the top-mounting method. The visor itself has oversized eyeslits however, which would present a major weakness against piercing attacks whether from melee weapons or projectiles. Smaller eyeslits such as on the House of Zoul helmet would be more appropriate.
