Hunt (perk)

Hunt is a Houndmaster perk in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Description

With your dog, you can hunt game such as hares and deer. You can even try tackling boar.

This is the most important of Houndmaster perks, and the most useful as well. The earlier you get it, the better, because it will allows you to feed yourself, your dog, and sell any excess. This, in turn, will increase both your Houndmaster and Hunting skills alike.
There are two ways to make use of this perk:
1. You can focus your crosshair on an animal, and the prompt button will say "Hunt", which will cause Mutt to pursue and attempt to kill the animal.
2. You can talk to Mutt and speficically request to "Hunt", but he will only actively hunt for Hare. Once said Hares are in Henry's general radius, Mutt will run up to them, hunt them down, and bring them back.
Contrary to this skill's description, Mutt will only reliably hunt Hares.
- Roe deer can be hunt in a decent manner, but usually they tire him easily.
- Red deer can usually be too fast and hard for him to take down, depending on terrain. This is especially true if you tell him to hunt male Red deer.
- Boar are fair game if you manage to wound them first, but they usually tire him out due to their high health.
Having this perk during the quest The Prey, will make the hare hunting challenge part of it extremely easy, if not even assuring your victory, provided you actually do look for hare. All you really need to do is to talk to Mutt and ask him to hunt for hare and walk around the woods.
