Sir Hagen Zoul is a character and antagonist featured in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance DLC, Band of Bastards. He wears a unique set of armour.

Biography

Hagen Zoul is a member of the noble House of Zoul. Many years ago, King Wenceslas had began a campaign to silence all of his dissenters in Bohemia. The House of Zoul was among these dissenters, consequently, Wenceslas ordered his recently appointed Royal Hetman and distant relative, Sir Radzig Kobyla, to deal with Hagen and his family. His family's castle was burned down, his father was hanged, and their property was confiscated. Like most nobleman who lose their wealth, Hagen turned to banditry along with gaining an everlasting hatred for Sir Radzig.

Decades later, Sir Hagen saw that another nobleman Sir Istvan Toth had been terrorizing the local area, he used this to his advantage to pillage Sir Radzig's estates in secret while he was occupied. Radzig had also recently hired a band of mercenaries, led by another impoverished nobleman Sir Kuno who Hagen had worked together with in a previous war, had came upon a recent raid by Sir Hagen's thugs. The band discovered Hagen's involvement after seeing his family's crest and a note after the band intercepted a second raid by his men. Shortly afterwards, Hagen's bandits captured a member of Kuno's band named Jakey. After refusing to comply with their demands, they ultimately swayed Jakey with coin to lead his fellow mercenaries into a trap. The band not only survive the ambush, but deduced that Jakey was the traitor who had set it up, and one of them interrogated him into revealing that Hagen was personally leading a raid nearby. After being intercepted, Sir Hagen offers Kuno a chest full of silver. Henry can convince Kuno to reject the silver, pay him to defeat Hagen, or let Kuno take the silver. The first two end with Hagen's death after a battle between his thugs and Kuno's band, but the third option has Henry challenging Sir Hagen to a duel.

Notes

  • It is possible to spare Hagen Zoul in the duel, as if Henry knocks out Hagen he will surrender. If you act honourably and let him go, he will give you a message to Radzig Kobyla, saying that he would not go after him and pillage his lands, but also that he wouldn't speak for the other Zouls. Report back to Radzig and he will tell you that you acted honourably, but that he knows that his name isn't cleared from the Zoul family.
  • If Hagen yields and you still try to kill him, you will have to fight all his men and him. They will not mount their horses while aggro'd however, so if you are quick you can simply call for your horse and mount up before picking them off one by one.
  • Like any other enemy, Hagen can be instantly knocked out with Headcracker. However, killing him while knocked out will anger his men as this is counted as attacking him after he yields.
  • His Horse can not be killed.
  • He wears slightly different gear during cutscenes:
