Rovna was a village located close to Silver Skalitz within the Sasau region.

History

After the attack on Skalitz, Sigismund and his Cuman army set Rovna to the torch, and everyone in the small town was killed, or fled.

When Henry passes through on his way back to Skalitz to bury his parents in Homecoming, he finds piles of decomposing bodies, mostly outside the church, as terrified citizens were slaughtered trying desperately to seek sanctuary. More bodies are strung up in trees.

Later, a single farmer returns in an attempt to rebuild, and asks Henry to find a priest in A Man of the Cloth, hoping having a man of God working at St. James church again will bring the people back. For a time, only Father Simon and the farmer live in Rovna, and the two manage to clear away many of the bodies.

The Skalitz Parish Priest might also be asked to minister at Rovna, but he seems to refuse to come back, preferring his new comfortable life in Sasau.

The village of Rovna lies close to Stribrnå Skalice (Silver Skalitz). Around 1150 a Romanesque church with a presbytery and cemetery were built there by monks from Sasau Monastery. The church was consecrated to the oldest patron of miners, St. James the Greater. The Romanesque frescoes are its most notable decorative element, painted in two stages, in the mid-12th century and roughly 100 years later.
