For Bow as weapons - see Bow.

Bow is a Combat proficiency used by Henry in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The current level of Bow can be seen in the Player window below their character. It can also be seen on the Combat tab along with the current progress and required experience needed for the next level.

Makes players more proficient with a bow and arrow, effectively increasing their weapon stats when they equip a bow.

Description

Only particular bow-related actions make the player increasingly proficient with bows and arrows, which will increase the power of attacks. As the skill is leveled up, the sway is slowly reduced until there is very little sway. Levelling will also reduce Stamina used on loosing arrows, but not stamina used on drawing the bow. Strength effects this slightly.

Until a player reaches level 5, they are unable to hold a bow correctly. When firing the arrow, the string will flay, causing injury to the forearm unless protected by vambraces or other items. If the arm is covered, using the bow will only drain Stamina.

Once a player reaches level 10, they zoom in whenever they draw a bow, making it easier to see distant targets. The zoom increases at level 15 and 20. This ability is permanent and can't be toggled off.

One important thing to note is that the speed at which the bow is drawn is not increased as the Bow skill is leveled up. It is instead determined by Agility and the power of the bow, with the more powerful bows taking much longer to fully draw than the weaker ones.

General Tips

Stats and skills effect bows in these ways:

  • Strength - Required threshold to use each bow, slightly lowers Stamina use on draw (but not loose), and may influence Damage. Does not increase Range.
  • Agility - Not a required threshold to use each bow. Main factor in Draw Speed, though Bow Power has some influence over it as well. Does not increase Range.
  • Bow Skill - Decreases Stamina Use on loosing arrows (but not draw), decreases sway and increases zoom. Does not increase Range.
  • Bow Power - Part of the bow's Damage, (along with Arrow, Poison and possibly Strength). Increases Range.
  • Arrow Power Mod - A multiplier that affects the Bow's Power Stat. 1 does nothing. 1.1 increases Power by 10%, 0.9 decreases Power by 10%. The change in Power denotes a change in Damage and Range (That's how Long Distance arrows fly further).

As the player levels Agility, the Draw Speed of bows will increase. The default draw speed at the lowest ranks is 3.2 seconds, not including another 3 seconds to notch an arrow (which never gets faster). It seems that at max level for Strength and Agility, Capon's hunting bow, the Very light bow and all variants of Villager's Bows will cap off at 1.5 seconds to full draw. Meanwhile, all bows of higher power than Capon's hunting bow will increase in draw speeds at different rates, with lighter bows always being faster (Hunting are faster than Long), and Cuman Bows being faster draw compared to their Hunting or Longbow counterparts. The Yew longbow will gain barely any draw speed at 3.0 seconds, and the Sinew bow gains none, at 3.2 seconds.

At maximum Strength and Agility, Capon's hunting bow would have the highest DPS. The Villager's yew bow is close, with lower demands and the same DPS, but with lower range. The Ash hunting bow is also close, with longer range, but higher demands and slightly less DPS. These bows would be good for DPS based combat, and not powerful per-shot playstyles. They may also not be the best for Competitive shooting, it's best to use the Villager's Ash or Dogwood for those as they have a good balance of speed and range for target shooting.
