Aachen dyed brigandine is an armour item in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and is classed as a body plate. It comes in four varieties.

Description

The bringandine is a type of armour made of small steel plates riveted to a stiff, tough fabric or leather lining. The segmentation of the armour gives the wearer greater mobility.

How to Obtain

  • Green variant
    • Purchased from Master Ota, the Armorer in Sasau,
    • Looted or stolen from a guard in the town area of Sasau, he will be wearing Black brigandine pauldrons as well. Usually he is found patrolling the main square during the day, and he is rarely out of sight of other guards. The best players can probably do is knock him out, steal all he has, and run away before being approached by the other lawmen.
      • A similar guard can be found during the "Skirmish" random encounter whilst fast traveling from the Sasau region, towards either Skalitz, Rovna, or Pribyslavitz. He will often die during this encounter.
    • Can also randomly be found on higher level bandits.
  • Red and Yellow variant (Skalitz-themed)
    • One can be found in Skalitz, near the stone bridge. The bridge has a small aqueduct or barrier of stone that is smaller, the chest is on the little hill of grass near it, hugging both structures.
    • Another one can be found during the quest Cold Steel, Hot Blood. One of the soldiers of your formation during the ambush wears one. If he dies either by the hands of an enemy or by friendly fire, his corpse still remains when the next battle sequence starts. If he survives the first encounter, he takes part in the following ones.
  • Orange variant
  • Black and Yellow variant (Rattay-themed)
    • Two can be found in Vranik, but only during (and perhaps after, but never before) the quest The Die is Cast. Beware, however, that being caught looting ANY chest will result in aggroing every bandit.
      • One is inside a chest on the eastern-most tent of the bigger encampment of the area, facing the palisade.
      • Another is inside a chest of the northern-most tent, outside the inner palisade near a cooking pot where a large congregation of bandits usually sits around.

Notes

  • Historical Accuracy: The Aachen brigandine in Kingdom Come Deliverance is modeled after the so-called "Leeds brigandine", a design dated to c. 1470 Italy and named after the Royal Armoury at Leeds where it is stored. Brigandines of this type are characterized by a wasp waist, many small plates, and the characteristic trefoil rivet pattern, and they were commonly depicted in manuscripts some decades prior to the extant model. However, as a rule they were rare in Germany and the rest of the Holy Roman Empire, and they were more advanced than the brigandine types which would have existed during Kingdom Come Deliverance by around 50 years. Historical brigandines also tended to have brass buckles and rivets, as iron ones as shown in-game would be more at risk of corrosion.
